Growth is scary. Necessary.

The old saying goes, “If you don’t grow, you rot.” Another one I like is, “Be not afraid of growing slowly, be afraid only of standing still.” Brilliant, yes? Easy? Hard no. With any luck you’re going to naturally grow and improve without stressing yourself out. Or you’re going to find that you have to really work hard at growing. For me it has always been a rough road in pursuit of improvement. I struggle with confidence and consistency. Being afraid that something will fail or take too long to work is part of my daily life. This year I took measures to level up my physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. It is a journey fraught with dust, rocks, thorns and blood. Vulnerable and authentic, I’m working on myself daily. This leads to making better art. This helps me try again when I doubt myself. I just have to trust myself that I can do it. Continue making mistakes. Have a setback or two. Move on. My hope is for anybody reading this does the same. Keep growing in all you do.
